Triple Glazing

Posted on by

I am a bit confused with the adverts on TV for triple glazing. The adverts are full of praise for triple glazing, and compare how much heat is lost with traditional double glazing. I started to wonder if triple glazing was all it was cracked up to be, as I was considering having new windows fitted. What was the difference between double and triple glazing and should I invest in triple glazing?

How cold is does this country get in winter? We are not a Nordic country or a North American country where the winters are severe and are severe every year. I live in the south of England and some years the winters are very mild. We often have a lot of rain and high winds but very rarely do we have snowfall or ice.

I thought I would research into how effective double glazing is. I went to visit a neighbour and asked her how she liked her double glazing. She invited me in to see for myself. I have to admit her house was very warm. We tried the windows upstairs and downstairs to see if we could detect any draughts. We couldn’t.

Now I’m not saying that triple glazing is not a good thing. But it does cost a lot of money and when you are on a budget it is something you need to consider. I think if you live in the north of England it would be wonderful. Most places in the north of England have a much colder winter than we do here in the south.

I went to visit another neighbour who has triple glazing, and their house is indeed very warm, especially the hallway area which I find very draughty in my house. I have started to shop around for a good double glazing supplier. I will question whether triple glazing is needed in my case. I am not sure if triple glazing is sold as standard today, or if it is still seen as an added extra.

Cost will dictate eventually which I have fitted. I think there is a good case for having the triple glazing fitted, but which I choose will be decided by cost at the end of the day. I have an old house which is draughty and the windows badly need replacing, if I can afford glazing I will certainly have it fitted. Perhaps I will be able to afford triple glazing in the living and kitchen areas. The more I look into this the more I am convinced that if I can afford it I should go with the triple glazing.

Before I started looking into this I thought I was going to buy double glazing, but now I think I have changed my mind, after seeing the results in my neighbour’s house.   Whichever I decide I will choose a local company that has lots of recommendations. I will definitely call in the company that installed my neighbours triple glazing and see what they have to recommend.

Good luck to you in your search for a good supplier from Clive.
